AIR MAURITIUS OFFERING MORE FLEXIBLE BOOKING OPTIONS

The new flexible booking policies that have been published on the Air Mauritius’s website are still valid for customers who have booked tickets or who are holders of vouchers for future travel. However, customers need to know that resumption of operations is subject to favourable evolution of the covid-19 situation and the lifting of travel restrictions by the authorities.

These measures have been taken to allow passengers to better plan their travel in these exceptional circumstances. Our teams remain available should further clarifications be required.

FLEXIBLE RE-BOOKING OPTIONS

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS ARE IN FORCE IN MAURITIUS UNTIL 31 AUGUST 2020

Regular commercial international passenger operations are suspended until 31 August 2020 with the travel restrictions in force in Mauritius and other destinations we serve. At the moment we are operating a number of scheduled cargo flights as well as some passenger flights for repatriation as requested by authorities.

We are looking forward to welcoming passengers again on MK flights when countries start the progressive easing of travel restrictions. 

As you know, safety has always been our topmost priority. We have therefore been upholding highest standards of sanitary safety and are closely monitoring developments in order to ensure that future travels happen in the safest and most efficient conditions. It is important that our passengers feel reassured and confident about sanitary safety when they fly with us.

FLEXIBLE REBOOKING

If passengers have either purchased a ticket directly with MK, or through travel agencies, and have not been able to travel during the lockdown period, they are invited to opt for one of the following alternatives: 

 

OPTION 1

  • Change your travel date at no additional cost or
  • Freely transfer your tickets to another passenger.

 

The following conditions will apply:

  • This facility is available for a period of 2 years from the original departure date
  • No penalty or fare difference will be applicable for travel on Air Mauritius flights in the same cabin class.

 

OPTION 2

  • Exchange your unutilised ticket for a Travel Voucher.

 

The following conditions will apply for the Travel Voucher: 

  • Valid 2years - For tickets issued on MK until 31st Mar20. Eligible tickets will receive additional bonus credits of 10% calculated on fare plus another 10% on YQ. After a 24month period a full refund of the EMD may be offered to passengers requesting a monetary refund.
  • Valid 1year - For tickets issued on MK from 01st Apr to 31st May20. After a 12month period, if unused a full refund of the EMD may be offered to passengers requesting a monetary refund.

  • All rebooking and no-show fees will be waived, allowing customers to benefit the full amount of their credit.
  • The EMD is also transferable to another person for future issuance of tickets and ancillary services.


*The additional 10% does not apply to the exchange of un-utilised Award tickets (Tickets issued from redemption of miles).

 

TICKETS BOUGHT THROUGH A TRAVEL AGENCY 

Customers who have purchased their ticket directly through a travel agency and who wish to apply for one of the above options, will be redirected to their travel agents for assistance.
