The French travel market in 2024
France is expected to maintain its position as the World’s Leading Tourist Destination, with 100 million international visitors in 2023, a number which is set to increase with the 2024 Summer Paris Olympics.

With a vast number of international flights connecting France’s largest airports with the rest of the world, as well as TGV trains reaching many key Europeans urban centres, the French love travelling abroad. Although Europe and the Mediterranean regions remain popular, the French are travelling farther and further in 2024 looking for new experiences, including in non-French speaking countries. Surveys show that they travel more often and care about sustainable tourism. Consumer spending is on par with 2019. With 68.5 million inhabitants, France is one of Europe’s largest markets.

After a 2-year slump, the number of newly created travel agencies and tour operators in France exceeded closures in 2023 and is set to further increase in 2024. While most travel professionals are online, many are now also focusing on offline bookings with face-to-face customer interaction.

The popularity of e-learning in the tourism and travel sector continues its spectacular progress: Major industry players enlist the support of OTT to create training courses and reach the travel trade, while French travel professionals increasingly rely on these immersive tools to become experts, improve their knowledge and to help with sales.

OTT France Developments and Partnership with TourMaG

Over the past 12 months, we have seen a substantial increase in the number of French travel professional/agents registrations on OTT France, as well as OTT partners wishing to reach and engage with the French trade.

To meet this growing demand, OTT is increasing its focus and presence in the French market with a dedicated French-speaking Team. Additionally, OTT France generates Course Completion Certificates, a Monthly Newsletter, solo E-mails, and Blogs, entirely in French.

In December 2023, OTT signed an agreement with TourMaG.com, the leading French-speaking platform for travel and tourism professionals. With over 30,000 subscribers, including thousands of travel agents and tour operators, the site records on average 1,000,000 visits per month. As a result, OTT partners can now, in addition to their OTT France subscription package - and for a modest supplement - be promoted on the TourMaG website and in their newsletters, for maximum visibility. Since the launch of the partnership in December 2023, a number of partners have opted for a combined OTT/ TourMaG package, with tangible results.
