How to get there?

Illinois is easily accessible with direct flights from the UK and Ireland into Chicago O’Hare.

UK/Ireland Direct Flights : London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham International, Edinburgh (Seasonal); as well as out of Dublin and Shannon (Seasonal) in Ireland.

Airlines flying direct to Chicago O’Hare include: American Airlines, British Airways, US Airways, United Airlines, Aer Lingus & Norwegian. With Aer Lingus, fly from regional airports in the UK to Dublin and then connect to direct flight to Chicago.  

Dublin airport offers passengers the benefit from the United States Preclearance facilities. This allows departing passengers for all US flights to clear not only US immigration but also full US customs and agriculture controls. The benefit of this service to passengers is that, having collected their luggage at their US airport of arrival, they can move quickly to their next destination without any further processing requirement.

Launched in 2017 WOW Air offers flights via Reykjavik, Iceland to Chicago O'Hare. 

Launching in 2018 Norwegian offer direct flights from London Gatwick to Chicago O'Hare.

In May 2018 American Airlines will be launching the Dreamliner on their Route from Manchester to Chicago O'Hare.

Best Time to Visit

Visitors can experience all four seasons in Illinois.

The best time to visit is April through October. Spring temperatures are mild and mostly dry with average temperature of 12°C. Summer is warm and sunny with average temperature of 23°C.

In the summer, there is plenty to do with outdoor festivals, ball parks, beaches and beer gardens.

Autumn is a beautiful time to visit, the fall colours are spectacular and last from late September through October. The winter months are magical, with lots of snow on the ground.
