Hapag-Lloyd opens bookings for 2021/22 season

Whether it is myths and legends in the Southeast Pacific, or Lange Anna in the North Sea, guests on board Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa 2 can enjoy a variety of routes during the 2021/2022 season.
The new catalogue has been released covering 27 cruises from October 2021 to September 2022 which can be booked now at www.hl-cruises.com.
In addition to popular classics, there are new destinations to choose from. For the very first time, the EUROPA 2 will head to Easter Island and America’s West Coast. Calls at Istanbul and the port city of Marmaris are also back in the programme.
Europa 2 was commissioned in 2013 and since then has been continuously awarded the distinction of 5-stars-plus and been named “the best cruise ship in the world” by the Berlitz Cruise Guide. During the summer months, European destinations will determine the routes, while during the European winter, the ship, which has a maximum of 500 passengers, will head to faraway places. Those interested in fashion, art, music and sport will find diverse formats on board the luxury ship for modern lifestyles with an informal dress code, which is popular among both professionals and families alike.
Highlights from the new catalogue include:
Heroes from novels and a focus on wellbeing in the South Pacific
The maiden route links the port city of Valparaiso with Tahiti. Robinson Crusoe Island awaits, where a sailor was once stranded, providing the idea for Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. After several days of relaxation at sea, 20-metre-high moai statues will greet passengers to Easter Island where visitors can view cultural sites and lava caves. The cruise finishes with Pitcairn, the only inhabited island of the archipelago, which became famous thanks to Mutiny on the Bounty andThe Bounty Trilogy. Far East training methods and relaxation techniques will complement the on-board IN2BALANCE programme.
Say ‘aloha’ to an amazing adventure
Exotic islands, waterfalls and the vast expanse of the Pacific characterise the route from Fiji’s islands to Hawaii and then on to San Francisco, which features part of the IN2BALANCE format. For the first time, the Europa 2 will visit four Hawaiian islands. Guests can gain cultural insights and soak up the impressive scenery and enjoy culinary delicacies in the seven restaurants on board the Europa 2.
Go west – an abundance of art, five countries and the Panama Canal
The maiden route will visit more than ten destinations including Los Angeles and San Diego contrasting with small idyllic port cities such as Monterey and Santa Barbara. Visiting the Golden Gate Bridge, or take part in a wine tasting in the Napa Valley. The art cruise as part of the ART2SEA format will be accompanied by renowned art experts. In this way, guests will gain insights into the international art business and visit exclusive exhibitions and galleries. More than 890 original paintings and exhibits, as well as photographs and sculptures will adorn the ship’s suites and public areas.
The closer the journey gets to Guatemala, the more likely it is that guests will see animals in the wild. The EUROPA 2 has a shallow draught and also boasts a Zodiac fleet enabling guests to reach destinations which cannot be accessed by larger ships, allowing for special landings. Weather permitting, the Zodiacs enable passengers to go whale watching along the Baja California peninsula.
Times Square, Martha’s Vineyard, Helgoland and Elbphilharmonie
Two legendary cities and two special islands: from New York to Oak Bluffs – the counterpart to the Big Apple. Here, on the largest island in New England, is the oldest functioning carousel in the USA and is where small, pastel-coloured confectioners’ houses line the streets. The IN2BALANCE programme gets underway once the EUROPA 2 crosses the Atlantic: innovative training methods for greater fitness, flexibility and strength are combined with relaxation techniques and concentration methods. Fully relaxed, guests get to experience the island of Helgoland before heading on to the final destination of the port of Hamburg.
FASHION2NIGHT – couture and party
Every two years, designers, fashion experts and fashionistas meet on board the Europa 2. The highlight of the FASHION2NIGHT cruise is the show of renowned designers on board the cruise ship in the port in Hamburg. The pool is transformed into a catwalk. After a night of partying, the fashion-focused cruise will set off from Hamburg to Gothenburg and Copenhagen and return back to Hamburg. The programme also features workshops with fashion experts and a pop-up store where guests can buy exclusive collection items from the designers.
