Malta Tourism Authority to Host Immersive Hybrid Wellness Retreat for World Mental Health Day This October

Malta Tourism Authority to Host Immersive Hybrid Wellness Retreat for World Mental Health Day This October

London, 22 September 2021 - In celebration of World Mental Health Day, Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has partnered with wellbeing social enterprise Talent Courtyard to provide in-person and virtual Wellness Retreats for travel sales professionals who have been on the front line in the fight to keep travel alive. Attendees can look forward to relinquishing 18 months of troubled travellers, traffic light systems, and a plethora of protocols with the newly launched immersive Wellness Retreat. The event takes place next month on 11th October to coincide with World Mental Health Day on 10th October, showcasing the best of Malta whilst helping attendees improve their sense of wellbeing.

To reward UK and Ireland travel sales professionals, the in-person event will be free of charge, taking place in St. Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, a beautiful church in the heart of London and will be also livestreamed to online participants. This inaugural hybrid Wellness Retreat will feature the sights and sounds of Malta, combining relaxation techniques with positive thinking and creative expression.

Andrea Meszaros, Founder and Director at Talent Courtyard explained, “As World Mental Health Day takes place on 10th October, it is essential to stop for a moment and reflect on the past couple of years. During this period, we’ve seen an increase in travel professionals struggling with their mental health and looking for ways to improve their wellbeing, to cope with the uncertainty that has surrounded the industry. We have designed an immersive wellness retreat experience that includes creative, de-stressing, interactive workshops to bring the holiday feeling from a destination through our wellbeing programmes into London and participants’ homes. We are absolutely delighted to build on our partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority with whom we launched the UK’s first Virtual Retreat during lockdown last year, as Malta and Gozo are the perfect locations to consider when it comes to wellness destinations.”

Peter Green, Trade Trainer at Malta Tourism Authority commented, “The ongoing pressure that the travel industry continues to face as a result of pandemic uncertainties has not only been difficult but pivotal in the awakening of mental health and wellbeing concerns. As a conscious destination, Malta recognises the impact of one’s surroundings and the importance that escapism to places like Malta, Gozo and Comino offers people a space to pause and reconnect with their surroundings and selves. This is why we are honoured to join Talent Courtyard in its efforts to combat the increase in poor mental health and wellbeing among UK travel sales professionals. We are delighted to share the serenity that Malta’s healing landscapes provide virtually, and whet the appetites of those who take part as we want to welcome them back to explore our shores very soon.”

With over 300 days of sunshine, picturesque coastlines and turquoise waters, farm to table gastronomy, wellness retreats and a host of incredible spa hotels; the archipelago of Malta has all the ingredients to create the ultimate wellness holiday. The islands are being placed firmly on the health and wellness map and is just a short three-hour flight from the UK.

Complimentary registrations for the Wellness Retreats are now open and travel professionals can sign up here:
