Intrepid Launches National Travel Agent Day UK

INTREPID LAUNCHES NATIONAL TRAVEL AGENT DAY UK
Tour operator invites industry partners to join forces in celebrating the important role travel agents play in supporting the UK travel industry and holidaymakers
London – 6th July 2020 – Intrepid Travel, the world’s leading sustainable tour operator, is proud to launch the first National Travel Agent Day UK* on Friday 24th July 2020, and invites all travel industry partners, media and customers to join them in celebrating the valuable role agents play in supporting the UK travel industry and holidaymakers.
Set to take place annually on the last Friday of the UK summer school term, just before the summer holiday mass exodus typically begins, this year Intrepid is asking those supporting National Travel Agent Day UK to share the #NTADUK hashtag** on their social media channels on 24th July. Travel companies are encouraged to get creative in how they choose to thank agents for their hard work assisting clients around the clock, seven days a week and across international time zones.
“At Intrepid, we feel now more than ever is the time to get behind the travel agent community and show our appreciation for everything they do, especially the difficult challenges Covid-19 has presented,” said Zina Bencheikh, Managing Director for EMEA at Intrepid Travel. “We want to officially recognise agents on National Travel Agent Day UK for their hard efforts as frontline workers, dealing with this crisis firsthand and their important role in helping to keep the UK travel industry afloat.”
This year, as part of the launch Intrepid will host an industry-wide Virtual Appreciation Event on 24th July at 4pm, connecting agents and partners online to mark the occasion. Full details will be announced closer to the day on Intrepid Loves Agents Facebook page.
“With Covid-19 hitting the industry hard in recent months and government guidelines rapidly changing, we understand the difficulties many agents have experienced, such as dealing with frustrated and confused customers,” added Bencheikh. “National Travel Agent Day UK is a chance for all those connected to our industry, including travel organisations, airlines, operators, travel journalists and customers themselves, to take a moment to thank agents for their patience and resilience in this most challenging of times.”
Until now, no such day has officially existed in the UK, unlike in other parts of the world such as North America and Australia. Bencheikh continued, “Even when Covid-19 is behind us, we believe National Travel Agent Day UK warrants a permanent place in our national calendar, to serve as a reminder of the crucial role agents play in travel, both during a crisis and getting businesses back on their feet, and as a way of giving travel agencies the recognition so often overlooked by the high street.”
To show your support for National Travel Agent Day UK on 24th July 2020 please use the #NTADUK hashtag on the day and encourage others to share it on their social media channels.
