Discover an arty side to Tokyo in the autumn

As summer comes to an end, the calendar of big festivals in Tokyo and around Japan begins to wind down. Portable mikoshi shrines and festival costumes are put away until next year.
While the traditional festivals may be over, autumn brings a fantastic and eclectic season of art and culture.
Big international events such as the Tokyo International Film Festival are now firmly fixed in Tokyo's annual planner.
At Tokyo Festival, visitors can experience theatre and dance first hand through workshops and audience participation as well as seeing world-class performances.
At a more local level, the Bunkyo Chrysanthemum Festival is one of the more famous flower festivals at this time of year, while trendy Roppongi has its very own Roppongi Art Night.
Odaiba, on Tokyo bay, and Harajuku's Yoyogi Park both host art and cultural events - as well as food expositions - throughout the autumn, including the always popular Spanish Festival in November.
