What is the dress code on a Viking ocean cruise?

By day: On board and ashore dress is casual. Shorts, jeans and comfortable shoes for walking are recommended. While swimwear, brief shorts, cover-ups and exercise clothing should be reserved for the pool and Sports Deck.

By night: For evenings, while there are no “formal nights,” the recommended dress is elegant casual for most restaurants, performances or other special events.

By the way: Along with comfortable walking shoes and dressier shoes, packing a collapsible umbrella/lightweight rain gear, a lightweight jacket or warm sweater is advisable, along with sunglasses, a sun hat or visor, sunscreen and toiletries.

Depending on the season, guests may want to add a warm coat, gloves and water-resistant footwear to that list.

When are the tickets sent out?

Travel documents or itinerary details will be issued around three weeks prior to departure.

Do guests need a visa? How does this work?

Your customers should seek advice from you, or their respective embassy or consulate, to determine which documents are needed. All required documents should be obtained and checked for accuracy prior to departure to avoid delays or additional cost.

Guests travelling to Russia on a Viking-organised shore excursion do not require a Russian Visa provided their stay does not exceed 72 hours in Russian ports, and private tours are available that do not require a separate visa.

If guests intend to step off the ship alone, or to explore independently, they MUST obtain a visa before their cruise commences; please advise them to consult the respective embassy or consulate. Passports must be carried with them at all times when ashore in Russia. To assist us in meeting Russian immigration requirements, we request that guests bring (in addition to their passport) a photocopy of their passport photo page to provide to our staff at check-in.

Do we have disabled staterooms?

Yes. Staterooms 6020 and 6021 have disabled access. Please contact us for more information.

Can we take a wheelchair on-board?

When you make your reservation, please let us know of any disability.

Can we cater for guide dogs?

How do gratuities work?

Gratuities are included in the cost for the UK market (on board ship only).

What currency is used on board?

Although most services are included in your cruise fare, discretionary purchases will be charged to a shipboard account. These accounts, along with all prices and currency on board the ship, are in US dollars and may be settled with US dollars, or a major credit card, before disembarking the ship (traveller’s cheques are not accepted). You can also pay in cash with GBP and Euro.
