Slovenia lies in central Europe and borders Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary. It is just a few hours' travel from Venice or Vienna. Slovenia is easy to reach from neighbouring countries, with good road and rail links, and daily flights from numerous European cities. As a maritime nation, Slovenia can also be reached by sea. 

By air

Slovenia has good air connections with many European cities. The majority of flights arrive at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik airport, from where you can catch daily flights to cities all over Europe. The airport is also served by two low-cost airlines Wizz Air and easyJet, which offer direct flights to London. 

Slovenia's national airline, Adria Airways, a member of the Star Alliance, offers two direct flights per week from Ljubljana airport to Manchester and London Gatwick.

Another possibility is to fly to one of the foreign airports nearby and access Slovenia from there by bus, train or rented car. Transport services from nearby airports are also offered by Go Opti.

By car 

The majority of drivers enter Slovenia by motorway. To drive on motorways you must have a vignette. 

Local roads are the most picturesque and interesting routes around the country and provide the best opportunity to get to know its natural beauty and its sights. Road safety regulations require the use of dipped lights at all times when driving, also during the day. There are 24-hour service stations and petrol stations approximately every 30 km on the motorways. Petrol stations are also common in cities and small towns. In case of breakdown, call 1987. 

Cars can be rented at specialist agencies and airports. Fleets include various categories of vehicles. 

If you wish to travel through Slovenia by camper van, you must carry the proper class licence and while moving all passengers must be in seats with seat belts fastened. Overnight stays are permitted at special camper van rest stops and at camp sites.

By train

Direct express trains from neighbouring countries and many other parts of Europe offer you an easy way to get to Slovenia. You can also travel overnight on trains with sleeper cars. Travelling by train is one of the most comfortable ways to travel. Slovenia is part of the Eurail Global Pass system, which means that you can use this pass to travel in Slovenia.

By bus

Slovenia is also easy reachable by coach and bus from a number of European cities. There are even direct coach services from cities thousands of kilometres away, in Sweden and Denmark for example.
