Getting around

Global operates buses (guaguas) on an extensive network of routes around the island. Buses are cheap, especially if you buy a multi-journey card.

Tour operators and hotels organise several excursions and activities, including trips into the interior mountains, to the capital Las Palmas and ship excursions along the west coast. Activities such as diving, parachuting, camel walking and quad biking are very popular.

Official taxis are reasonably priced and reliable. The journey from the airport to Playa del Inglés should cost no more than €35 during the day.

Most tourists wanting to see the island will hire a car. Auto Risen, Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Cicar are well represented at the airport and in all accommodation resorts.

Bicycles can be hired in all the main resorts.
