GETTING HERE: by air

International flights from North America & Europe connect through: Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, Martinique. 

The Caribbean Airline: LIAT offers direct flight connections between Antigua, Barbados, Puerto Rico and Douglas-Charles Airport daily. LIAT usually completes the Dominica leg of international flights & accommodates most intra-regional travel. Travelers from the US can book Dominica directly on JetBlue utilizing connections on LIAT in Antigua and Barbados.

Seaborne Airlines replaced the American Eagle flight and serves between Puerto Rico and Douglas-Charles Airport daily. A code-shared agreement allows direct booking on American Airlines to Dominica. Interline agreements with other carriers for direct booking includes United, Delta and JetBlue.

Winair offers service between Guadeloupe, St. Maarten & Antigua into Douglas-Charles Airport and Canefield Airport daily.

  • Woodbridge Bay Port in Roseau (southwest): main trade port, accommodate cruise ships
  • Roseau Cruise Ship Berth (southwest): cruise ships
  • Roseau Ferry Terminal (southwest): ferry only
  • Longhouse Port in Portsmouth (northwest)

 

Sailing / Yachting  

  • Movement of vessel: special permit must be obtained at Customs on arrival at any official port.
  • Mooring: avoid legally protected areas Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve & Cabrits National Park Marine Reserve.
  • Yacht Marina: none, but yacht moorings are available on the Caribbean Sea in calm water.
  • Calm anchorages at: Prince Rupert’s Bay (attracts 1500+ yachts) & Newtown/Castle Comfort
  • Service: private services are available by official companies and groups to meet all visitor needs
  • Cabrits Port in Portsmouth (northwest): accommodates cruise ships
  • Anse-De-Mai Port & Marigot Port (northeast): not suitable due to strong Atlantic Ocean currents

 

Fast Ferry: L’Express des Iles 400 seat catamaran travels between the Roseau Ferry Terminal and:

  • Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe (2 hours travel)
  • Fort-de-France, Martinique (2 hours travel)
  • Port Castries, St. Lucia (4.5 hours travel includes stop-over in Martinique)
