Pre-Travel Information

Important information for Folkestone Check-in

There is now a dedicated check-in for Freight vehicles; as your clients need to check-in to our Passenger terminal, it is very important that as they exit from the M20, they take the following action:

  • To pay close attention to and observe the speed limit
  • To stay right as they exit from the M20; remain to the right until they have passed the Freight check-in; the location for Passenger check-in has not changed
  • Under any circumstances, they do not approach via our Freight check-in which is to the left; they will not be able to check-in from here and may miss their departure.

Flexiplus Check-in

It is very important that your customers have their Flexiplus booking confirmation to hand in either paper or electronic form.

To speed up the journey, please advise them to use all available check-in and Border Control lanes.

Flexiplus Check-in at Folkestone

  • The dedicated Flexiplus check-in is located to the right on arrival, once past the Freight Check-in

Flexiplus Check-in at Calais

  • Please advise your customers to stay to the left as they approach check-in
  • Please see map below for details of how to rejoin the Flexiplus purple route once they have cleared Border Controls

Exclusive lounge access and opening hours
The exclusive Flexiplus lounge facilities are open 06.00 to 22.00 daily (local time).
Outside lounge opening hours the Flexiplus lobby with complimentary Starbucks and toilet facilities will be available or alternatively the Passenger Terminal building, situated before border controls in the UK and after border controls in France, will be happy to welcome your customers.  Please note however, that complimentary refreshments and newspapers will not be available.

If your customers are travelling during one of our busiest travel periods of the year, here is some advice for a smooth trip:

Arrival and check-in times
We recommend that you advise your customers the booked departure time and not to arrive early or late during this busy period, as we will not have space to accommodate them.  Plan to check-in at least 45 minutes prior to and no more than 2 hours before the booked departure time.

Travel Hangers
To facilitate a smooth journey through our terminals, please advise your customers to display the travel hanger at all times, from check-in to disembarkation at their destination.

Passport and documentation
Eurotunnel Le Shuttle works closely with the Border Authorities; whilst we are not responsible for the controls, the following advice will help to ensure a smooth flow:

All passengers (including pets) will need a valid passport or ID card; these need to be to hand, out of wallets and open at the photo page, prior to approaching Border Controls in the UK and France.

Passenger Terminal Buildings
Why not visit the Folkestone Victor Hugo Terminal Building just before Security checks and the Calais Charles Dickens Terminal Building, immediately after Border Controls.  Both offer toilet facilities, free wifi, customer departure information screens, baby changing areas, and a family room with a children's soft play area including a large cinema style screen and interactive games tablet.

Customer Information
We recommend that you advise your clients to visit www.eurotunnel.com/latest
which will inform them of the latest travel information for both the Folkestone and Calais Terminals.
